Hi,

If you need to reply to a specfic posting in a discussion, you can quote someone.

Method 1:
To quote someone, click on the "Quote" button located next to the message that you want to quote. (Rather than creating a new topic or replying the topic.)

When you type your posting, you will see 2 windows, the main message window, and the "quote window" below. In the quote window, you will see the entire message. You can clean up any extra text in it to better highlight the ideas or the questions you are replying.

Then, click "Add Reply" to submit your posting.

Method 2:
Another way to do it is to reply to the topic by click on the "Add Reply" button (or if you need, the "New Topic." button.

At the edit screen, type your message as usual, and at the spot where you want the quote to begin, click on the "QUOTE" button, which is located between the "@" button and the "CODE" button.

It will insert [ QUOTE ] tag. (I have have to add a space between the brackets to show you this.)

Then, either type the quote out or use copy and paste to insert the quote. Remember that all of the topics in the discussion are listed at the bottom of the edit screen.

When you finish quoting, remember to click on the "QUOTE" button again to close off the tag. It will insert the [ /QUOTE ] to close off the tag. (Again, I have have to add a space between the brackets to show you this.)

Then, click "Post New Topic" to submit your posting.

Please give this function a try. If you have any questions, please message or email me . I hope that this helps.

Hi,

This posting is created by "Method 1: Clicking on the "Quote" button, located next to the message."

As you can see, I have cleaned up some of the extra text to highlight specific ideas or questions.

Hope that this helps.

Hi,

As you can see Method 1 is simpler and shows who you are quoting. Method 2 is a bit more complex, but it allows you to place your quote anywhere in the message. However, it does not show you who you are quoting. (Method 1 allows for this, but is even more complex.)

Again, please give this a try.

This sounds cool. I cannot wait to try it. I'll have to do it later as my 18 yo son keeps messing with me 'cause he wants the puter. He thinks juggling over my head will make me get off sooner. This from the kid who was accepted at U of Chicago and Loyola.

Me :P
