Question The End of Physique Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hair Care Products?

The End of Physique Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hair Care Products?

When I was browsing Shoppers Drug Mart today, I notice that it has put all Physique hair care products on clearance. Bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and styling products were in the clearance section. I walked over to the regular hair care aisle and noticed that other brands have taken over. I was amazed at the expansions of Clairol, Thermasilk, and other most notably Dove.

Physique hair care products was introduced in 2000 by P&G. According to the July 20, 2000 article, “Premium-priced hair products take over retail shelves” from Drug Store News, Physique was launched as a “premium mass brand,” salon quality products sold in drug stores. Regular prices were USD$7.99.

The significance of mentioning Physique at Free Stuff Page is that it used to offer many free samples for you to request. If you search for “Physique” on this site, you would find that different site visitors have mentioned several Physique sampling opportunities.

Do you remember getting the free Physique samples? You probably remember getting the sample packaged in a silver foil packet, one side was shampoo and the other was conditioner. Have you purchased any Physique products after trying the sample? After I tried Physique, I purchased a bottle of Physique shampoo. While I liked using it, it was relatively pricey. Even the article mentioned above indicates that retailers wanted “Physique's price points [to] be shaved $1 or so.”

You could still buy Physique products at other stores, such as Drugstore.com, but I think you would find fewer stores carrying them. What will be the future of Physique and more importantly, when will we get to get more free Physique samples again? We will just have to wait.

Re: The End of Physique Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hair Care Products?

Here is a message that I received about these products from Proctor & Gamble.

Physique products are being phased out and stop shipping in early 2006.
Over the last few years, we have developed a very strong portfolio of
brands that meet the diverse needs of the Hair Care consumer in North
America. These include Pantene, Aussie, Herbal Essences and professional
offerings like Sebastian and Wella. The styling offerings from these
brands will comprehensively meet the Physique consumers' needs

While we can't promise a retailer will have Physique products, if you
have a store that has carried Physique in the past, make sure to stock
up.
Many stores who are currently carrying Physique may have it until they
reset their shelves in January, 2006. Like you, we too are
disappointed that Physique is phased out and will share your comment with the
Physique Team.

We would like to offer recommendations for you in our Pantene Pro-V
lineup:
